Jean Stewart was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She loves books, music, dogs, and people who laugh. She earned her living as a teacher and coach in her early years, but left education to pursue a writing career. She lives near Seattle, in the beautiful Pacific NW with her partner Susie, three badly behaved dogs and a reclusive Maine Coon cat named Emily Dickinson. She has had stories published in numerous anthologies.  -- from Saints & Sinners

During their arduous journey back to the shining all-women's world of Artemis, they are unexpectedly drawn to each other. This engaging first book in the series has it all, romance, mystery and adventure.

  2. Isis Rising (1993)
In this stirring romantic fantasy, the familiar cast of lovable characters begins to rebuild the colony of Isis, burned to the ground ten years earlier bythe dread Regulators. But evil forces threaten to destroy their dream. A swashbuckling futuristic adventure and an endearing love story all rolled into one.

  3. Warriors of Isis - Finalist, 1994 Lambda Literary Award for Science/Fiction/Fantasy/Horror
The third lusty tale is one of high adventure and passionate romance among the Freeland Warriors. Arinna Sojourner, the evil product of genetic engineering, vows to destroy the fledgling colony of Isis with her incredible psychic powers. Whit, Kali and other warriors battle to save their world, in this novel bursting with life, love, heroines and villains.

  5. Wizard of Isis (2004) -- Finalist, 2004 Lambda Literary Award for Science/Fiction/Fantasy/Horror
Tomyris Whitaker and Danu Sullivan are cast adrift in a civilization that has regressed almost four hundred years. Meanwhile in Freeland, Kali and Tor grow impatient with procedural delays and mount their own rescue mission to save Whit and Danu. As the four Freelands grow more determined than ever to be reunited, Kali's rescue mission goes awry, and Whit finds herself fighting to save Kali's life.

Other
  • Emerald City Blues (2001)
When the comfortable yuppie world of Chris Olson and Jenifer Hart collides with the desperate lives of Reb and Flynn, two lesbian runaways struggling to survive on the streets of Seattle, the forEcast is trouble. A gritty, enormously readable novel of contemporary lesbigay life which raises real questions about the meaning of family and community, and about the walls we construct and a celebration of the healing powers of love.
